He is the son of Francesco Stallone Sr. (a hairdresser) and Jackie Stallone (astrologer, and dancer). He has an older brother, Frank Stallone, who is a musician and actor. Childbirth complications led to the lower left part of Sylvester's face disabled, giving him his iconic "snarling" look and slightly slurred speech. Because of the volatile family dynamics between his parents, Stallone spent his first years in foster care. In the end, the couple divorced. Stallone was a drama student at American College in Switzerland, prior to moving to the University of Miami. Stallone quit school to explore acting in New York City.
